What is a Conference

The Conference is the basic organizational unit and essential grouping of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in the USA. Each unit, because of its Vincention commitment, engages regularly in the person-to-person service of those in need. The persons to be helped and the works to be performed are determined by the conference itself. Conference services are to be performed without recompense to its members. Conferences may be men's, women's, or mixed; they may comprise adults and young people, or adults, or young people only. They may be established within a variety of social groups and settings, such as a parish, college or school, firm, or company.; or they may be organized for the performance of special works.
